Xenoblade Chronicles is getting a remake for Nintendo Switch – Polygon

Xenoblade Chronicles, originally released on the Wii, is getting a brand new Nintendo Switch remake called Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition. Nintendo announced this new edition of the game with a short trailer that played during its Nintendo Direct event on Wednesday night.

The story follows Shulk as he seeks revenge for the destruction of his home. In the short trailer we hear a mysterious voice ask Shulk ask if he wants to change the future. Later, we see him charge into battle with his signature sword, which should be familiar to anyone who’s seen him in Super Smash Bros.

Xenoblade Chronicles was originally developed by Monolith Soft and released in 2012 in North America. This will be the second time that Xenoblade Chronicles has been remade after the 2015 release of Xenoblade Chronicles 3D for the New 3DS. This will be the second Xenoblade Chronicles game on the Nintendo Switch after Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which came out in 2017 and was followed by an expansion pack called, Torna — The Golden Country almost a year later.

Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition will be released on the Nintendo Switch sometime in 2020.
